BCA Poster Prize Competition

HUGE congratulations to new Welsh Institute Of Chiropractic graduate Sam Ogilvie who won the British Chiropractic Association’s Poster Prize competition at the BCA’s Autumn Conference.

Sam’s poster described her research study investigating reasons why patients choose chiropractic care – by understanding what it is that patients do and don’t like about our care, and our clinics, and why they select us over the other options available, we can help to improve the care that we provide.

The posters were judged by eminent researchers Jan Hartvigsen, Jonathan Field and Jennifer Hudson, and Sam’s poster was selected from some stiff competition. It was great to see several excellent posters presented by other new graduates – our future researchers of tomorrow!

On receiving her award, Sam said, “It was fantastic to have my research poster accepted at the BCA Conference, but even more amazingly I am so honoured to have been awarded the prize for the best poster presentation! I could never have imagined the opportunities the summer internship could have given me. Now to put what I’ve learned into practice, and keep progressing with the research write up!”

Sam carried out her project this summer, as part of the 8-week interdisciplinary research internship on the Programme for Early Researchers in Chiropractic. Whilst she has started work in full-time clinical practice, Sam is busy writing up her work for publication, and we look forward to seeing her name in print.

Very well done!
